5 Tandems and an assortment of solo bikes started off from the library heading to Moffat. Bethany at 7 years old was easily the youngest and bravest participant. Although the sky was very overcast the rain stayed away for most of the day.
After losing our Chairman at Templand we carried on with a following wind to the very welcome tearoom at Moffat, where Graham reappeared having taken a short cut!! During tea Mike and Lucy turned up. They turned out to be trackies from Herne Hill who were cycling over from Galasheils to Dalbeattie, but 40 miles of plugging into a headwind was getting the better of them so they teamed up with our motley crew for our return trip.
Unfortunately this involved heading into the wind and the group split up and it all got a little too much for Bethany, but after being picked up by Frasers brother we once more headed towards Dumfries.
A great day out. Its not often we come back with more riders than we started off with and we might have learnt what a 'chicken switch' is!! Its when your chain comes off so that you can make your excuses for not beating Steve to the 30 mph sign!! We also got an insight into Classic Walls training, apparently its therapeutic to be dropped!! Thats one to ponder.
Thanks to Les and Carol for organising this one
